About Matt Brun

Matt Brun has spent over 20 years working in some of the highest-risk environments in the world.
He started his career in an oil refinery, where the consequences of getting safety wrong aren’t theoretical. They’re immediate, severe, and life changing.
From there, his career progressed rapidly:
- Head of Safety for a $10B rail alliance in Sydney
- Global Health & Safety Director at Amazon
- Health & Safety Director at KPMG, building their safety division
At Amazon, Matt was one of only a small group of global directors, travelling across the United States assessing risk and leading high impact projects.
But over time, one thing became clear:
“Large organisations often lose sight of what safety is really about. In corporate environments, safety can become compliance driven and disconnected from the people doing the work.
In small businesses, it’s different. An injured worker isn’t a number, it’s someone you know.”
